    GREAT GRAY OWL HOVER.

Watching a Great Gray Owl hunting voles over a field is a lesson in patience and opportunity. Like the owl, the photographer has to know when it's a good time to strike!
    LONG-TAILED DUCK.

The soft "yodel" call of the long-tailed duck is known to anyone living in the far North. Not so well-known is it's striking winter plumage of black and white.
    WHITE-THROATED SPARROW.

In the boreal forest, the plaintive "Oh Canada, Canada, Canada" song of the White-throated Sparrow is a familiar sound. Its natty appearance also endears it to everyone who knows it.
