Dennis Fast > CANADA GOOSE GOSLINGS Canada Geese are becoming pests throughout much of their range primarily because they deposit a lot of guano on golf courses and city parks! On the other hand, their confiding charm and their cute goslings are hard not to like.
Dennis Fast > BELUGA WHALE MOTHER & CALF. I do most of my wildlife photography with wild animals but the only way to get this shot was in the aquarium at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I love the connection between mother and offspring floating effortlessly in their space.
Dennis Fast > POLAR BEAR ASLEEP IN LUXURIOUS SNOW BED. It was extremely cold on the morning when I got this photo after a blizzard. The micro-drive in my new digital camera was struggling to keep spinning in the -25C air; but I got the shot!
Dennis Fast > AMERICAN BULL ELK IN YELLOWSTONE. The elk is a popular animal in the parks and remote wilderness areas where it can still exist. Increasingly, it can be found in game farms where it is raised for meat or hunting purposes.
Dennis Fast > BURROWING OWL NEAR NEST The Burrowing Owl has become an endangered species throughout much of its former range because of the over-use of pesticides. The owl feeds primarily on grasshoppers which makes it a secondary target of some of the chemicals used by farmers to rid their fields of those pests. Where grasshoppers are abundant, the owl won't be far behind.
Dennis Fast > MALE BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER If there is a more flaming orange bird than the Blackburnian Warbler, I have yet to find it. Feeding and nesting high in the trees of the boreal forest it is amazingly difficult to see, but it's secretive nature simply makes its occasional revelations all the more spectacular.

Dennis Fast > MOUNTAIN LION Although the mountains in the background are a perfect setting for this aptly named cat, the mountain lion actually ranges throughout much of wild North America. Its habitat is shrinking, however, and increasing contact between lions and humans is causing consternation for both. Perhaps the mountains will be its lasting refuge after all.
