Dennis Fast > NORTHERN LIGHTS SPECTACULAR.

Nothing is more mesmerizing than a shimmering curtain of light in the northern sky. When the show lasts for hours, as it sometimes does, it's difficult to go to bed.
Dennis Fast > SPIRIT BEAR CURIOUS ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER.

The Kermode Bear is considered a subspecies of the North American black bear. Approximately 1 in 10 of these bears is a creamy white color and is known as the spirit bear. The spirit bear is rare indeed; and it is a very trusting and confiding animal, making it more vulnerable than many predators.
Dennis Fast > COTTONGRASS LANDSCAPE, ICELAND.

Much of Iceland's landscape is volcanic and barren, but in the older mountains lush mosses and grasses grow profusely.
Dennis Fast > ROARING BARBARY LION.

The magnificent Barbary lion is extinct in the wild. Formerly roaming the deserts and hills of Tunisia and Morocco, less than 400 Barbary lions still exist in captivity. Most of them are in Africa, believed to be descended from the collection once held by the King of Morocco, but a few exist on game farms and zoos of North America.

The Barbary lion is distinguished from regular African lions by its darker and fuller mane which also extends half way down its back and across its belly. It was a special privilege to photograph this extremely rare animal at Animals of Montana.
Dennis Fast > YOUNG MALE SUMMER TANAGER

Summer Tanagers are not common in Canada, but they regularly appear at Point Pelee National Park in Southern Ontario. Slow, and deliberate, they are a delight to photograph as they flycatch from a favourite perch and frequently return to the same spot.
Dennis Fast > I call this photo "ADORATION" because it represents the epitome of a mother's love for her child. I could feel the love through my camera lens!
Dennis Fast > SHOWY LADY'S SLIPPER

The Showy Lady's Slipper can be a common flower of boggy areas. Unfortunately, appropriate boggy areas are increasingly hard to find. Growing up to a meter (3 feet) in height, it is one of the most elegant and spectacular flowers of the northwoods.
Dennis Fast > POLAR BEAR MOTHER & CUB OF THE YEAR.

After a long winter in a den where this young cub was born about 10 weeks prior to emerging, it feels good to see the sun. The look of adulation and complete confidence in the eye of the young bear makes this photo very powerful.
Dennis Fast > POLAR BEAR MOTHER & CUBS.

This mother and her cubs were resting in a secluded nook of small trees. Newly out from her birthing den, she now was faced with a long march to the sea ice to find food for herself and her young cubs. Sometimes going without food for as long as 8 months, mother bears have been known to lose 70% of their body weight in one natal season!
